  • Study on the health of the Australian Exploration Industry and the role and importance of the Junior Sector for future success
  • Provided strategic advice to a number of Governments on how to work with mining and exploration companies
  • On behalf of the Government (in South East Asia) developed a strategic road map for developing a mining industry in their country and helped update their Mining and Investment Laws
  • Provided advice to industry and government on Royalty Rates
  • Carried out a number of studies identifying the investment rules and royalty rates for mining projects in Latin America and the Middle East
  • For a Major mining company identified the level of country risk in various mining jurisdictions
  • Following a merger between two major companies, provided strategic advice on how to restructure a company’s exploration portfolio and set milestones for assessing and prioritising early-stage exploration projects
  • Benchmarked the discovery performance of 38 Major companies – both in terms of their exploration capabilities and commercial skills in joint venturing into other companies discoveries
  • Compiled a detailed database on over 1100 major copper deposits found in the world since 1950. This was used by a Junior Company to benchmark its copper project against other recent discoveries
  • Determined how giant base metal discoveries grow over time. Was used by company to determine the option value of the “blue sky” in a recent discovery.
  • For a Major gold producer, determined the discovery trends for gold exploration. This also involved benchmarking the performance of Junior versus Major companies
  • Determined the discovery trends (and unit costs) for nickel laterite and sulphide exploration
  • Assessing the long term trends in brownfield versus greenfield exploration for copper
  • Reviewed the historical discovery performance of the uranium industry and determined the likely future level of exploration expenditures and discoveries under a range of scenarios out to 2030
  • Built an economic model for assessing the economic viability of their exploration projects and discoveries
  • For a Junior company, identified potential strategic partners for a possible acquisition and/or merger
  • For a Junior company, assessed the technical and commercial merits of a specific investment opportunity
  • For a mid-tier gold producer, assessed the residual exploration potential for further discoveries in a mature camp.
  • Carried out a very detailed assessment of the potential for resource growth at nine mining camps around the world
  • Currently providing advisory services to a Major mining company on assessing the technical and economic aspects of their exploration programs and development projects
  • Developing a detailed cost curve for the uranium industry
  • Assessed future discovery rates under different price scenarios for uranium out to 2035
  • Carried out a due diligence study for an investment company looking at funding a junior explorer in uranium
  • Determined the transport needs for mines and projects in NE Queensland out to 2030
  • Assessed the future power requirements of a mining camp – for use by a consortium planning to build a power line to the district.
