Long term trends in gold exploration. Is the love affair over, or is it just warming up?

Presentation given to Melbourne Branch of the Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (AusIMM), Melbourne, June 2016

This presentation is based on the recent presentation I gave on the same topic at the NewGenGold Conference in November 2015.

The main difference is that it has some updated numbers plus a special focus on the gold exploration story for Australia. It also includes my forecast on the likely level of exploration spend in Australia. Based on BREE’s gold price forecast, expenditures are set to rise from A$476m in 2015 to $690m in 2017 then flat-line at ~$660m pa in the longer term. Note: These figures are very sensitive to commodity price assumptions and exploration success.
